Anne Ormsby
If art is a reflection of life, then Ormsby's must be filled with
an unorthodox sense of perspective. Anne's paintings give happy
thoughts to everybody!
As one of this country's dominant watercolor artists, she maintains
a refreshing painterly quality, which is refined, yet unpretentious
and gleefully naive at times.
Ormsby's sources of inspiration seem to be as eclectic as the media
with which she works. She varies her subject matter with whim and
ease, and can seemingly paint anything which strikes her fancy.
Her topics range from colorful, whimsical rendering of women seen
in a variety of environments and character studies to western bronco
busters. Her media spans watercolor, pastel, ink with wash, colored
pencil and acrylic.
The size formats of her work are striking. Her paintings range from
3 inches by 4 inches to 3 feet by 4 feet.
To the casual viewer, a common element, other than her love of color
and unique sense of humor, is difficult to find in Anne's paintings.
Her topics are broad because her paintings reflect childhood memories
of early environments, characters, interior design styles, and on-going
travel and family experiences.
